Lombard Library Board

Dan O'Connell, Dustin Himmerich, Sam Kuhlman, and Dan Hollenbach will be running for the Helen Plum Library Board.

This quest began as a response to the refusal of the current board to keep graphic and inappropriate material out of the access of young children. Their opposition has created a false narrative that they seek to ban books. The truth is that libraries can have all sorts of books that can be looked up and checked out that don’t need to be easily picked up by little hands. While responsiveness to community requests to protect children remains a high priority, there are other aspects of community development that these candidates seek.

We look to create and foster relationships with community organizations, both public and private, to research how the library can facilitate improvement to various aspects of our community.

We look to increase community engagement by taking library services out into public spaces to increase exposure to our offerings.

We look to include more services aimed specifically to helping the poor and traditionally underserved by libraries.
